Back-Office / Software

Cloud based Back-Office

The central system will be the neural point of the system. All transactions and configuration data will be processed and stored here. It is intended that the system and all its data, both collected as well as processed, to reside in one of the BEA’s Cloud current servers. BEA, in every specific project will analyze data generated in order to determine if a new server is required.

The system is designed using an open architecture and a modular concept that allows the easy integration of new devices or software modules, either manufactured and produced by BEA or supplied by a third party vendor. 

Here is a high-level description of what each module will provide from a feature/function perspective, for the core AFC Central System modules:

 

Core AFC Central System:  

Fare Management

The Fare Management Module provides the ability to establish fare structures and procedures for collection through multiple media payment types. The process is managed through a single web page.  Fare modifications that are required during the day can be created immediately and the revisions implemented into existing fare tables directly from the central system. The persons administering the AFC system will also be able to access a read-only view of the fare structure through the main navigator.

Fraud Management

The Fraud Management Module provides the capabilities to create and update processes required by Fare-Boxes, Magnetic and Smart Card Readers and the Central System related modules. Among features is Hotlist Management and Vault Audit Logs to support the ability to load the data via excel or input directly through the interface.

· Reporting of lost or stolen media

· Hot-list on smart card/magnetic strip cards/open cards

· Temporary blockage on usage – example school holidays

Administration

The Administration module is focused on providing a structure overview and management capability for supporting IT requirements. The module provides “at a glance” views via a homepage and drill-down capabilities that enable IT professionals to perform management functions for the total AFC environment. These functions are:

· File Management & Archiving

Reporting

The reporting module provides historical views of current, as well as forecast views of transit operations and ridership assessments based on trends that have been identified through the central system.  These include analytical views, event processing, performance management and predictive analytics. The module will also provide the capability of building online dashboard reports through a wizard process. Examples of reports are:

· Rider type – transit type (landscape of ridership)

· Same day actual information on transit operation

· Drilldown/deep-dive capability at the lowest level of ridership

Mobility Package

All of us experience the pervasive need to embrace employee and customer mobility. The mobility package extends the agency and ridership desktop to most mobile devices. Life is improved dramatically for both administrators and riders who can take advantage of tablets and smartphones to manage their daily routines.
