The Ticketing Vending Machine (TVM) will process all forms of payments through its Windows based platform. As has been indicated the TVM will accept cash payments in the form of paper bills & coins, along with credit/debit cards and will at a later date allow the use of smartphones as a form of payment through Apple-Pay or Android-Pay. 

 

The TVM is designed using proven, off-the-shelf components using PC-based systems, thus minimizing risk and cost, allowing the implementation time to be reduced. Will support the use of currency (bills & coins), along with credit/debit cards and with reloadable contactless smartcard tickets, and QR code scanner to read mobile applications.

  • The Ticket Vending Machine can process the different fare media’s in a very quick, efficient and reliable manner.  Examples of times to complete transactions are as follows:

    • Smart card: 300 milliseconds, for a simple transaction with no auto-load

    • Smart card: 500 milliseconds when a transaction includes an auto-load

    • Coins: up to 8 coins per second

    • Bills: up to 1 per second

    • QR Code Reader: 300 milliseconds

  • The TVM incorporates audio messages and braille to provide accessibility to individuals with auditory and visual impairments and it comply’s with all provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act

  • Optional: Accept and Issue paper magnetic stripe tickets for specific applications i.e. dispense a “Change Card”
